Season Summary
Harsh weather conditions, low turn out, injuries and only one returning swimmer would usually spell disaster for a swim season but that did not hamper the spirits of the ladies on the Stone Ridge Christian Knights Swimming Team. Despite having only five swimmers, the Knights made the best of a tough situation. They were led by senior, Becca Whitmyre, who finished a stellar career with Top Five finishes in nine of the thirteen possible events and a school record holder in four events. Katie Strickland established new school records in the Frosh-Soph and Varsity girls 100 butterfly in her first year with the Knights. Chelsea Jerner also established two records before commitments to college classes ended her season. Newcomers Julie Mendoza and Allison Goodin rounded out the team and made their presence felt—both of them establishing Top Five times despite having little to no competitive swimming experience. All in all, these ladies left their mark in the pool and on the record books. They raised the bar for future Aqua Knights to strive to beat.

Thanks and Appreciation
There are many people who have helped make this swimming season a great success. I would like to start by thanking the administration and staff at Stone Ridge for helping us organize rides, delivering messages, and helping with rides. Mrs. Ward and Mr. Lesher, special thanks for being the point people in the office there at the school. As always, our thanks go out to the coaches and administration at Merced High for allowing us to use their facilities for practice and are kind enough to let us join their swim meets. Thank you for the parents who helped to drive us to swim meets—Mrs. Goodin, Mrs. Strickland, and Grandpa Strickland were especially helpful in that department this year. Thank you to Mr. Biggs for helping to get us started at the beginning of the season. And finally, thank you to the swimmers. Ladies, you made this a very memorable season. We were a small team but that didn’t dampen your spirit and enthusiasm. Most of all, you were great witnesses for the Lord in your actions and dedication. For this I am most proud of you. Thanks to our Lord and Savior who gives us the bodies, talents and ability to enjoy his creation of water in a special way. We are all greatly blessed.
